Black-shouldered kite tail flicking

Black-shouldered kite (Elanus caeruleus) practicing the behaviour of «tail flicking», also referred to as «tail cocking» or «tail fanning». It performs this motion upon landing, whereupon it flicks its tail up and down repeatedly. This movement repeated continuously is thought to be a form of territorial display. The bird is also known as the black-winged kite. Filmed in the Auob riverbed of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in Southern Africa.
